"That's Ozzy with his daughter, Aimee, in 1984," Weiss told The Rolling Stone. "That was a play off of his album, Diary of a Madman. It was for a Mother's Day issue [of Faces magazine]. The idea was to dress him up like a mad housewife, you know, Diary of a Madman/Diary of a Mad Housewife.
"Aimee came in at the end of the shoot, and I said, "We have to throw her into the shot." There are actually some photos of him ironing Aimee, too. And after it came out, people were like, "How could you do that?" I was like, "We didn't do that. It was a prop. The kid is OK." But me and Ozzy got a lot of attention for a lot of photo shoots we did."

An ode to my dear dad, a sign maker who has wisely said…”You Know You Are Old, When Farts Are No Longer Funny!” As a silly surprise for him, this “Farter’s Day” aka “Father’s day – I remixed 99 iconic logos with the word Fart. Captioned with the companies slogan or mission statement it can really change the whole company hilariously! My fun-loving dad was a sign maker for many many years before he had to retire due to MS. He worked in many shops, freelanced, and turned our dining room into a sign shop when he opened his own business. We all had a good laugh over them and hope you do too! You can see the entire project on the Instagram link. My dad emailed a funny response to the project that I will close with… “These are Fartlarious! In the one and only book I ever read on Writing for Humour by Sid Caesar, his opening preface page had this great quote from him: “Nobody really knows how to be funny, but some people and some situations just are funny. But why is this so? For me, as a comedy writer for over forty years, it has always boiled down to this one human truth about what makes people smile: When somebody farts, somebody laughs! If that isn’t true, then why are you smiling right now?” Cheers to art & farts!” More: Instagram h/t: boredpanda

I mistakenly thought that he had two years left to live. He was 16 at the time, and I have never had a cat live that long, so I figured I would spoil him rotten during his last time on earth. I considered the time he went missing for a couple of weeks while I was traveling back east to see family and friends. After posting flyers in the neighborhood, I found out that he visited several neighbors on a regular basis, for additional breakfasts, lunch, and second dinners. This made me wonder about his many other lives… When I got laid off during the pandemic, I had time to paint the following images. I had enough to make them into a calendar for 2021. The calendar even got on the national news! The 2022 calendar is almost ready for printing. | The Emotive Pastel Portraits by Tammy Gabriel Posted: 10 Jul 2021 07:58 AM PDT ![]() Tammy Gabriel is a portrait artist based on the North Shore of Auckland, New Zealand. “Since COVID-19 lockdown in April 2020, I have been creating pastel portraits and taking commissions. I am self-taught (I have been told that I was drawing since I could hold a pencil) and have always been fascinated by people, figures, and especially faces and hands. I love to show a person's individual character and expression through a painting. I love working with shadows and light and interesting compositions. Initially, I started with graphite sketches, experimented with acrylic, and then progressed to oil paintings. A few years ago, I discovered watercolor and had some fun experimenting with the effects and bright colors that can be achieved with that medium. Most recently, I have found pastels – my favorite medium to date. I love the rich, smooth effect, which is perfect for portraying skin tones.” More: Tammy Gabriel, Instagram, Facebook h/t: boredpanda

| Vintage Advertising Photos Of A Serbian Brewery From The 70s Posted: 10 Jul 2021 07:11 AM PDT ![]() Advertising photos of Serbian Apatinska brewery bring back memories of the good old times during the 70s. Back then, the "red" passport was one of the most valuable ones in the world, people were driving domestically produced Fiat 500's, and yogurt came in triangular paper packs. h/t: boredpanda
These photos show some of the old brands from Apatinska brewery, such as Apa juices and Derby beer and the old Jelen beer bottle. Apart from evoking memories, these photos also serve to show how the perception of female beauty, as well as the overall approach to design has changed throughout the years.
Good looking ladies from these photographs were featured in traditional Apatin brewery calendars that could be found on the walls of many mechanic stores, hair salons, taverns, and truck cabins.

| Posted: 10 Jul 2021 06:42 AM PDT ![]() Harry Potter / Glen Etive, Scotland “Our idea is simple: We love to watch movies and when we find a scene we like a lot, we travel to the original filming location for two reasons. 1. We love to see what the places, in reality, look like. 2. It’s a lot of fun to take a picture as a memory, which looks hopefully as close as possible to the original scene. In 2014 we had the idea and after a while, we realized that many people have a lot of fun with the results. So we decided to share our hobbies with the whole world and started to publish them on Instagram in 2018. We didn’t expect that some stars would see the pictures and couldn’t believe it at all when they also commented on it. That was so crazy. Here are some examples,” Judith and Robin told Bored Panda. More: Instagram h/t: boredpanda If you want to see the first part, click here. Game Of Thrones / Gaztelugatxe, Spain “We just want to have a lot of fun together. And we do. One day in 2014, we were thinking about where we could go on holiday. At this point in time, we were students and we wanted to do something special but we didn’t have so much money. Suddenly we had the idea that we could visit filming locations. The problem was that we didn’t know how to prove (even to ourselves) that we’d really found the right filming location for a movie. So we had the idea to take a photo which looks like the original scene—just with us and without the actors. But to make it a better photo we thought about organizing the costumes they are wearing. We were laughing a lot because we didn’t believe that this would work. But we gave it a try. And it worked better than we thought.” Star Trek / San Francisco, USA “It’s difficult sometimes to capture these photographs. Sometimes it’s the weather. It often rains or is very cold, so cold that we have trouble capturing the photos. Sometimes it’s also very difficult to find a place. It can be that we are searching for days. And in some cases, the costumes are so difficult that we need a lot of time to find a good solution. At first, we always ask friends and family if they have something like the actors are wearing. Other times, we do our worn clothes. And sometimes we have to buy something.” We Visited “Dark” In Potsdam And Both Actors Shared The Picture On Their Insta “We try to do every movie or series we like. Sometimes we watch movies that we don’t like that much and decide to not visit the filming location. But when there’s a movie which is great, we try to find a family location and to travel to the place. Hopefully, we will do this project forever. Do you know the movie The Notebook? In the end, there’s a scene where two old people are sitting on a bench. I hope that, when Robin and I are old and gray, we can do this scene together. When we do these scenes, we have so much fun and it’s so exciting to see the results at the end. That is reason enough why we do it again and again. Often these shooting days are big adventures, which we don’t want to miss anymore.” The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty / Seyðisfjörður, Iceland “We’ve traveled to a lot of countries. The highlight was definitely New Zealand and the USA. Apart from the great filming locations, the nature was so amazing!! We just loved it.” Twilight / Montepulciano, Italy “There are so many stories from our shootings. It would take a lot of time if I told you everything. For example, for Forrest Gump, we tried to take the photo but we noticed quickly that it looked very bad when I was the only person who was standing in the background. So we asked a group from Thailand if they wanted to join us. They were so excited when they realized what we were doing that they joined our photo. They were so motivated that we had to do the shooting several times. That was very very funny.” Hunger Games / Berlin, Germany “Or, for example, for the photo of The Lord of the Rings in New Zealand, we had to visit Mount Sunday. It’s in the middle of nowhere. It took us so much time to reach the location and after we parked our car, we had to walk a long way until we reached our destination. We had a lot of stuff with us and it wasn’t so easy to get there. Finally, we wanted to start the shooting and suddenly Robin noticed that we forgot the battery for our camera. So he had to walk all the way back so that we could start with the shooting. After that, the sun was gone and we built up our tent. We stayed there for the whole night at this amazing place. To this day, this was one of the best locations we ever visited. Just because of our hobby.” Dark / Potsdam, Germany “If you want to hear more about our process, here it is. So at first, we need a scene that we want to re-create. When we have it, we search for the exact place. When the movie is famous, for example, The Lord of the Rings, it’s easy to find the location. But sometimes it takes a lot of time when there aren’t so many fans who have already searched for these places. We always try to visit a few filming locations in one holiday. So we have to organize all the costumes and we have to think about the trip so that we can visit all of them. When we’ve reached the filming location it takes us between 20 minutes and one hour to get the shot. Finally, we put these two scenes together in Photoshop. But we have some rules: 1: We aren’t allowed to add something that wasn’t there in reality, or to take something away with Photoshop. It’s allowed to change the color of the photo because all the big filming companies also use filters. If we didn’t also use these filters, it wouldn’t look so good.” Spiderman / Berlin, Germany “We have been a couple for over 10 years and meanwhile, we are also engaged. I’m 31 and Robin is 32 and we are living near Frankfurt. I think this hobby is a big part of our relationship and all these adventures connect us in a strong way (hopefully you know what I mean.) Some stars have also commented on our photos. It doesn’t happen every time; however, when they do this, we are so excited because it’s very special to us. We have normal jobs where we earn our money. Some people think that we have rich parents or something like that who pay for our journeys. But it isn’t like this at all. It’s financed 100% on our own. I am a journalist and Robin is a mechanical engineer. Every year we have six weeks for holiday and we use this time for our hobby.” Tenet / Italy James Bond / Venice, Italy We Visited “Letters To Juliet” In Siena And Christopher Egan Shared Our Picture In His Story Eat Pray Love / Rome, Italy Jerks / Potsdam, Germany Tenet / Amalfi, Italy Eat Pray Love / Rome, Italy |
| Beautiful Black & White Photographs of Children Playing in Barcelona in the 1970s Posted: 10 Jul 2021 05:51 AM PDT ![]() In 1972, Barcelona, Spain, wasn't all strolls long La Rambla and sunbathing on Playa de La Barceloneta. Many parts of the city were poor, overcrowded and run down. Manel Armengol (born 29 October 1949, Badalona, Spain) was there. these are his picurs of that time, focusing on children playing and going about their days. h/t: flashbak
Barcelona was Spain's leading industrial city for years. It was the site for Spain's first railway line in 1848. Things changed. In July 1936, Spain fell into civil war. Nationalist forces bombed staunchly Republican Barcelona. Italy and Germany supported the Franco-led Nationalist rebel army. Between 16 and 18 March 1938, their bombs claimed the lives of up to 1,300 people. On 26 January 1939, Nationalists took the city.
When Franco died in 1975, Catalan pushed for a return to autonomy. In 1976, as people protested for change, the massed, armed Civil Guard looked on. The Madrid government, then led by Carlos Arias Navarro (11 December 1908 – 27 November 1989), responded to the protests by agreeing with Manuel Fraga (23 November 1922 – 15 January 2012), the then Interior Minister, that the city should be locked down and detachments of the hated Grises deployed. "The streets are mine!" Fraga boasted. The Grises attacked with impunity.
But the will of the people won through. Catalonia voted for the adoption of a democratic Spanish Constitution in 1978, in which Catalonia recovered political and cultural autonomy, restoring the Generalitat (exiled since the end of the Civil War in 1939) in 1977 and adopting a new Statute of Autonomy in 1979.

| The 11 Winners Of The Prestigious 2021 Audubon Bird Photography Contest Posted: 10 Jul 2021 05:32 AM PDT ![]() Each year the National Audubon Society, an American non-profit organization dedicated to bird protection and environmental conservation, hosts the Audubon Photography Awards, and they have recently announced their winners and honorable mentions of 2021. This year’s Grand Prize winner is Caroline Fraser with her captivating and magical photo of the greater roadrunner captured in Texas. Though Caroline’s photo is truly amazing, other nominated photos were no worse, and Steven Jessmore’s picture of the northern cardinal was my personal favorite. Anyhow, check it out and enjoy! I’m certain you too will find a favorite or learn some interesting lore about bird species shown here. Amateur Award Winner: Robin Ulery Species: Sandhill Crane. Location: Johns Lake, Winter Garden, Florida Bird Lore: Sandhill Cranes have long childhoods. The youngsters—called "colts" for their long-legged, awkward look—learn to fly after about two months, but then stay with their parents for another seven or eight months, until the following spring. When cranes are very young, like the one in this portrait, they spend much of their time in physical contact with one of their parents, nestled under a wing or among the feathers of their back. More: Audubon h/t: boredpanda Professional Award Winner: Steve Jessmore Species: Northern Cardinal. Location: Rural Muskegon County, Michigan Bird Lore: Our familiar redbird is called "Northern" Cardinal to distinguish it from other cardinals in the tropics. Within our borders, it is most numerous toward the south. Seven U.S. states have chosen it as their official state bird, but curiously, none of those is in the Deep South. It may be that cardinals are most popular where people can enjoy the stunning sight of the brilliant red males against winter snow. Grand Prize: Carolina Fraser Species: Greater Roadrunner. Location: Los Novios Ranch, Cotulla, Texas Bird Lore: An icon of the southwest, the Greater Roadrunner is uniquely adapted for living on the ground in dry country. It can run considerable distances at 20 miles per hour and derive the moisture it needs from lizards, rodents, and other prey. When water is available, it drinks readily, but it seldom if ever uses water for bathing. Instead, frequent dust baths are the rule for roadrunners, along with sunbathing on cool mornings. Amateur Honorable Mention: Tom Ingram Species: Peregrine Falcon. Location: La Jolla Cove, California Bird Lore: Masters of the air, Peregrine Falcons are capable of capturing or killing practically any bird, from rapid fliers like swifts to geese larger than themselves. Peregrines are most famous for spectacular dives from great heights, plunging at speeds up to 200 miles per hour to strike prey out of the air, but they have other hunting methods. These falcons are likely to take a bird like a woodpecker in a short, powerful burst of level flight. Plants For Birds Honorable Mention: Karen Boyer Guyton Species: Anna's Hummingbird. Location: Quilcene, Washington Bird Lore: Hummingbird nests are amazing structures: tiny, strong but flexible, capable of stretching as the baby birds grow. To build them, females must seek out the most delicate materials in nature—like spider webs and plant down—to form the felted walls of the nest. As the heads of cattails begin to disintegrate to disperse their seeds to the wind, they make a perfect source for the kind of light fluff that the hummingbirds need. Professional Honorable Mention: Steve Jessmore Species: Red-tailed Hawk. Location: Kensington Metropark, Milford Township, Michigan Bird Lore: The most widespread of the soaring hawks in North America, the Red-tail also has the most generalized diet: At any given place and time, it hunts whatever prey animals are most readily available. It may focus on squirrels or rats in city parks, snakes in high desert regions, or jackrabbits on sagebrush flats. Chipmunks are common prey in some places; even though they provide only a small meal, they're relatively easy to capture. Plants For Birds Award Winner: Shirley Donald Species: Red-winged Blackbird. Location: Blue Sea, Quebec, Canada Bird Lore: In summer North American marshes come alive with Red-winged Blackbirds. Males are conspicuous as they sing and defend territories, while the more cryptically colored females do most of the actual work of raising young. This female, seeking food for her nestlings, employs a technique called "gaping." Sticking her bill into the closed bloom of the water lily, she then opens her bill wide to spread the flower open, exposing insects hiding inside. Female Bird Prize: Elizabeth Yicheng Shen Species: Northern Harrier. Location: Coyote Hills Regional Park, Fremont, California Bird Lore: Northern Harriers hunt by gliding low over open marshes and fields, watching and listening for prey. When the slender raptors detect a small mammal or bird, they abruptly turn, hover briefly, and then drop. Even an experienced adult may succeed in making the catch only about one-third of the time. Young harriers—like this juvenile, which is identifiable as a female by her brown eyes—may have a much lower success rate at first, but their skills improve with practice. Fisher Prize: Patrick Coughlin Species: Anna's Hummingbird. Location: Claremont Canyon Regional Preserve, Berkeley, California Bird Lore: Hummingbirds are often described as preferring to feed at red tubular flowers. While many such flowers may have evolved specifically to be pollinated by hummingbirds, that does not mean the birds ignore other kinds. Anna's Hummingbird, present year-round in most of its range, must adapt to whatever blooms are available. It quickly learns which flowers are providing nectar at a given time and will focus on those, regardless of color or shape. Youth Award Winner: Arav Karighattam Species: Purple Sandpiper. Location: Rockport, Massachusetts Bird Lore: No other members of the sandpiper family have such a northerly range, on a year-round basis, as Purple Sandpipers. These tough birds thrive in the harshest conditions. From their Arctic breeding grounds, they drift south in late fall to places where icy ocean waves crash violently onto coastal rocks. The sandpipers are perfectly at home in this turbulent scene, clambering about to seek tiny crustaceans and even sleeping peacefully among the boulders. Youth Honorable Mention: Josiah Launstein Species: Canada Goose. Location: Burnaby Lake, Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada Bird Lore: Canada Geese can be very aggressive, as many a person has discovered by getting too close to a nest. Their instinct to defend their territory is intense during the breeding season, when pairs actively drive away their own kind as well as other large intruders. Winter flocks are usually more peaceful. But as spring approaches, even a lone bird may shift into territorial mode and begin chasing away other geese. |

| The Impressive Surreal Body-Painted Illusions of Hikaru Cho Posted: 10 Jul 2021 04:54 AM PDT ![]() Hikaru Cho is a Tokyo-based body painter who specializes in surreal body art created using a combination of body paint and makeup. Tokyo-based artist Hikaru Cho may only be 27-years-old, but she is already one of the most highly regarded body painters in the world, having worked with big brands like Samsung or Shiseido, and organizations like Amnesty International, among others. A graduate of Musashino Art University, Cho is one of the world's most promising young body painters, and if her work so far is any indication, there's a lot of impressive stuff to look forward to in the future. More: Instagram h/t: odditycentral
Cho has been painting ever since she was a little girl, and while it's not clear when she became fascinated with body painting and optical illusions, it's clear that she became a master of them along the way. From extra pairs of eyes painted on her own body of those of other models, to disturbing "holes" in the skin and seemingly missing body parts, Hikaru Cho has a very impressive portfolio.
